LSE AU Nude Calendar

All by chance, I had an opportunity to work with Daniel Cayford, also a student at the LSE (and in the same philosophy class as I am), on the annual LSE AU Nude Calendar shooting.

As you may know, I have always been a landscape kinda girl and rarely shoot portraits. This is my first time being involved in something that 'formal' on one hand, (which sparked my interest in considering Photography as a master), and of such large scale on the other. Of course I have done group shooting like committee photo shoots before but this is totally different.

We had to have the ladies/guys spread out on a court/ venue (which we didn't book in advance and risk people walking into a group of naked peers (which did happen)) and pose as they wish. We then move around to find the best angle and set the flashlights and reflector board. As this was mainly a two men job, we fixed the flashlight on a tripod and hold the reflector board at a suitable angle (mainly held by Richard).

The most difficult task was to make sure none of the private parts get exposed and to shift readers' focus away from them. We wanted to show the beauty in athletes when they do their sports. We therefore use a gold-ish reflector board to deliver a tanned, healthier skin tone so as to add glam to the faces.

Most of the shots were taken by Daniel and I acted more like a technician on the site. (As I broke my DSLR in summer :sob: ) This was a great experience and I am so so SO glad I did it in my last year at LSE.
